He is not yet the animal he will become — the massive hump has not fully developed, the winter coat not yet as thick and shaggy as it will be in his prime, the horns still short and clean and carrying none of the heavy, scarred authority they will accumulate through years of sparring and survival on the Yellowstone plateau.
