There are images that document, and then there are images that mythologize — and Born of Dust belongs firmly in the second category. A dark horse drives forward through a swirling world of warm golden dust, its form defined not by detail but by the dramatic rim of light that traces the curve of its neck, the arc of its haunches, the forward thrust of its legs against the churning earth. The face is turned away, the identity of the animal entirely subsumed into something larger — not a specific horse, but the idea of a horse, ancient and elemental, rising from the dust as though the land itself had taken form and begun to move. The palette is extraordinary: deep amber, burnt sienna, and the darkest brown, every tone drawn from the earth and the light that catches it, the overall effect less a photograph than a painting from the hand of someone who understood that horses carry something older than history in their bones.
