A Blur of Silk and Gold
There is a sudden, rushing sound—like a sharp intake of breath—when a flock of Cedar Waxwings takes flight. These birds are the "socialites" of the avian world, moving with a coordinated elegance that seems almost choreographed.
To capture this moment, I wanted to move beyond a static portrait and instead highlight the sheer kinetic energy of the flock. The challenge was maintaining the incredible detail of those silky feathers and the distinct "waxy" red tips while conveying the blur of their collective motion. It is a visual celebration of community and freedom.
