The plaited mane of a white horse runs the full length of the frame in a vertical column of dark braids against luminous white coat, each knot tied with precision, the dark hair catching the light differently at every curve and fold. Shot in black and white and composed with the clean geometry of the braid as its sole subject, the image functions simultaneously as fine art photography and as abstract graphic composition — a repeating pattern of organic form that draws the eye from top to bottom of the frame with the same satisfying rhythm as a musical phrase.
