The Camargue horse is born this way — warm, golden, and entirely unlike the white horse it will become. In the first years of life, before the breed's signature grey-white coat gradually claims the chestnut and cream of the foal stage, a young Camargue carries a coloring of extraordinary warmth and beauty, the pale face and the rich amber of the body and mane existing in a combination that the adult horse will never possess again.
