Horsetail Falls drops in a single clean arc from the basalt rim above and meets the pool below in a whisper of mist, the long exposure smoothing the water to silk while the moss-covered walls of the gorge glow an almost impossible green around it. The autumn maple at the right edge of the frame has just begun to turn, its yellow leaves catching the diffuse light against the deep green of the cliff face, and the blue-green of the plunge pool reflects the sky and the fall together in a stillness that only long-exposure photography can reveal.
