Behind the Lens
Monument Valley is a place that feels ancient and alive, especially when a storm is rolling in. I spent the afternoon tracking the cloud formations, waiting for the exact moment when the light would break through the leaden sky to illuminate the face of the Mittens while the rest of the valley remained in shadow. There is a specific, high-frequency energy in the air just before the rain hits the desert floor. In this shot, I wanted to capture that tension—the silence of the giants against the movement of the sky.
