Shot from the spring's edge looking across the vivid orange and rust microbial mats toward the impossibly turquoise center, Prismatic Fire compresses one of Yellowstone's most celebrated features into a composition of pure color and line. The river of orange flows from the foreground like molten earth, its edges tracing against the dark wet perimeter before dissolving into the blue-green thermal water beyond. Steam drifts above the far shore, and the forested ridge and open sky close the frame with just enough of the familiar world to anchor what is otherwise an almost otherworldly scene. This is a color print made for a wall that can hold it — bold, saturated, and completely singular.
