There is an innocence and an intensity to young wild horses that the domestic world never quite produces — colts raised on open range with nothing between them and the full weight of the natural world, and it shows in the eyes. In Brothers, two Red Desert mustang colts stand pressed together in the sage-grey expanse of the Wyoming desert, their young faces alert and watchful, their bodies in the easy contact of animals who have spent every day of their lives side by side.
