In the monochromatic world of a high-altitude winter, the appearance of a Steller’s Jay is like finding a sapphire in the snow. I followed this particular bird through a quiet coniferous stand, waiting for it to settle on a branch that offered enough negative space to let its colors truly sing.
I wanted to capture the contrast between its deep, black crest and the vivid blue of its wings. It is a portrait of confidence and adaptation, a reminder that nature remains vibrant even in the harshest seasons.
