Between the sky and its reflection, a horse walks through the shallow tide with the unhurried grace of an animal entirely at home at the edge of the world. The wet sand mirrors him perfectly — horse and reflection moving together through the still water as a flock of birds lifts and turns above in the soft gray-rose of the Oregon Coast dawn. The warm golden light catches the horse's coat and turns it to copper and mahogany, and every detail — the fine head, the long neck, the slight swing of the tail — is doubled in the glassy surface below. There is a stillness and a solitude to this image that sets it apart from every other coastal equine image in the collection — no surf, no spray, no drama, just a beautiful horse and the quiet miracle of a perfect reflection on a morning when the tide and the light and the birds all arrived at exactly the right moment.
