Water flies, hooves find their footing, and three horses move through a rocky creek crossing with the controlled urgency that defines a working drive. The cowboy aboard the lead horse keeps his arm raised and his eye forward, pushing the loose horse through ahead of him — a moment of practiced coordination caught mid-splash in black and white. The wildflower meadow stretches behind them and the dark timber frames the edges, but the energy is all in the center of the frame: those pale horses churning through the shallows, manes swinging, momentum unbroken.
