There are horses that seem designed by a painter rather than nature, and the pinto Friesian cross is one of them — the bold graphic pattern of black and white breaking across the body in patches of such strong contrast that the black and white photographic treatment feels less like an artistic choice than a natural inevitability, the horse already living in monochrome before the camera ever arrives.
