Behind the Lens
In the Serengeti, a leopard in a tree is the ultimate prize for a wildlife photographer, but I wanted to capture more than just a resting cat. I waited for this leopard to begin its descent, looking for the moment where its muscles were coiled and its tail provided that perfect, rhythmic counter-balance against the bark. There is a silent, focused energy in Tanzania that you can't find anywhere else. I chose to keep the background soft and ethereal to focus entirely on the leopard’s form and the rugged texture of the tree—it’s a reminder that in the wild, survival is an art form of its own.
