On a storm day at Shore Acres, the boundary between the ocean and the land stops being a line and becomes a negotiation — the waves coming in faster than they can drain away, the water cascading over and between the basalt rocks in great white curtains that fill the air with spray and mist and the particular roar that only a coast under full assault produces. Wild Shores captures that negotiation in its most atmospheric and painterly form, the black and white treatment transforming the chaos of the storm into something that reads as genuinely beautiful — the dark basalt forms emerging from the white water like the bones of the coast revealed, the sea mist softening the middle distance into luminous grey, the dark evergreen trees at the cliff edge barely visible through the haze like a reminder that the land, despite everything the ocean is doing to it today, is still there.
